Another Free Shit Friday is upon us, and I was so busy with the big surprise that I nearly forgot to put this together. I don’t have a recommendation this week, but I don’t need one, as the guys have got me covered.

First up, from DemiGodRaven: Kalle Kappner

Kalle Kappner is a hell of a pianist, as his website shows. One of the more interesting things he has done though, is piano covers (and improvs) of various bands including Pain Of Salvation and Opeth. He has released both of these discs for free since you can’t sell them, so here’s a link to him playing most of Damnation (he doubles over on one song so a friend can play bass on it, so there’s no ‘Closure’) and it’s pretty good.

Next, we have deseee talking in the third person: George Hayduk

Deseee says if you’ve been digging the Merrow/Bulb/Cloudkicker stylings of late George Hayduk is another one to download for free. Deseee blatantly copypasta’d this from user GeorgeHayduk over at got-djent? so that you can easily find George Hayduk’s music, and Deseee doesn’t have to do any linking himself :win:

George Hayduk, a solo multi-instrumentalist based out of Long Island, New York has uploaded a few new tracks to his Myspace page. Most of his songs are ambient and slow, but lately he has been infusing them with metal and djent influences.

All of his songs are available for streaming and download on his Myspace page. He is currently working on a 37 track CD that will be available for free download soon on SoundClick. He has also indicated that he welcomes feedback in this forum topic.

Listen to the new songs on Myspace.

Next, another recommendation from DGR: Le Baron Vampire

I know I covered them in my most recent Judging A Book but Le Baron Vampire continue to surprise me, because at their home site you can actually download four tracks off of their upcoming album Baruch. It’s the same four songs that I did in my quick look at the band, so you guy scan experience the same thing. Once again, if you guys dig Isis and Neurosis, you’ll dig these guys as they most commonly reflect Panopticon-era Isis. The only oddball song to me is the opening of ‘Saloon Bizarre’, but the rest of the tune is pretty good, so download from their media page here.

Next, SPna15′s recommendation: Petrychor

First off, I would like to thank the people over at Hammer Smashed Sound for this.

Petrychor is a band from the ever expanding Cascadian Black Metal scene out near the west coast. They play the expansive style of atmospheric black metal, invoking the feel of misty, fog-covered forests, that is familiar to the scene. While there may not be much new here for those who are familiar with the Cascadian scene, Petrychor does add something to shake up the usual formula: Seamless integration of shredding into atmospheric black metal. Lots and lots of shredding.

Dryad is Petrychor’s first EP, and can be downloaded or streamed here.

And finally, Ziltoid comes up with the most insanely named band ever: NǽnøĉÿbbŒrğ VbëřřĦōlökäävsŦ

Try finding a band with a better name than this. This band makes REALLY FUCKING LONG drone doom albums. Now, by “REALLY FUCKING LONG,” I do not mean 80 minutes. I mean around 21-23 hours long for some of their albums. 23 HOURS! Just try sitting through one of these albums–I dare you. Of course, this band is a joke of sorts (as can be implied by their biography), but the results are still funny to say the least. Everything can be downloaded here.
